The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) will hold its semi-annual meeting next week in Banff, Alberta. Farm leaders from all provinces and commodity groups and cooperatives will convene to review the Federation's policy and developments on a range of issues important to the agricultural sector today.
Agenda highlights include an address from Alberta Agriculture Minister, Jack Hayden and a presentation by Allen Oberg, Chair of the Canadian Wheat Board. The delegates will also hear from Lori Stahlbrand, President of Local Food Plus, an organization committed to creating local sustainable food systems. CFA's Saskatchewan member, APAS, will talk about how the TV show "Dining with the Stars" is successfully connecting farmers and consumers. Policy options and next steps will be discussed for Growing Forward 2, the next suite of agriculture policy and programs, and the industry-driven National Food Strategy.
