On May 31, CFA President Laurent Pellerin will resign from his position as President of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) to assume the position of Chairperson of the Farm Products Council of Canada.
A hog farmer from Saint-Grégoire, Québec, Pellerin was elected as CFA President in 2009 and had served on the CFA executive for over ten years.
“In speaking with Canadian farmers across the country, I have learned a tremendous amount about the diverse issues that farmers face in Canada and I look forward to continuing to work with industry in my new role,” said Pellerin.
“Laurent has been a committed contributor to CFA and provided great leadership to this organization,” said Ron Bonnett, 1st Vice President.
“He will certainly be missed, but we wish him all the best in his future pursuits,” said Garnet Etsell, 2nd Vice President.
The leadership duties of the CFA will be shared in the interim by Ron Bonnett and Garnet Etsell until elections for all three executive officer positions are held at the CFA Annual General Meeting in February 2011.
