OTTAWA, Jan. 26,2009 -- Laurent Pellerin, 1st Vice-President of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), and CFA 2nd Vice-President Ron Bonnett will be available Tuesday, January 27, for comment to present the reaction of Canadian farmers to the federal budget speech. Canadian farmers are looking to see key issues addressed in this budget, including:
- Commitment to fulfill the government's election promise by enacting Agri-Flex - the proposed federal/provincial funding envelope
- Commitment to immediately meet its pledge of reducing diesel fuel excise taxes by 2 cents/litre
- Commitments to adequate support programs being developed under the new 'Growing Forward' policy framework
