Joe Clark to address farmers

(WINDSOR) - The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) is pleased to welcome the Rt. Hon. Joe Clark, Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, to its Semi-annual Meeting in Windsor, Ontario, on August 1.

"During the last election Mr. Clark and his party presented a well-constructed platform of agriculture policies," said Bob Friesen, CFA President. "We look forward to hearing from Mr. Clark again."

Mr. Clark will speak during the opening session of the CFA Semi-annual meeting, Thursday, August 1, at approximately 9 a.m.

Other agenda highlights for the meeting include:

  • A presentation by Jeffrey Jones, Senator for the State of Chihuahua, Mexico, on North American Agricultural Issues from the Mexican Perspective
  • A lunch panel session entitled "The Future of Agriculture: Cleaner, Greener and non-GMO? Third Party Perspectives" featuring representatives of Greenpeace Canada and the World Wildlife Fund Canada
  • A presentation on the government's innovation strategy by Lois A. Stevenson, Deputy Executive Director of the Innovation Secretariat, Industry Canada
  • The unveiling of CFA's 2002-2003 farm safety initiatives with partners Pioneer Canada and Operation Lifesaver.
